Arrested two days ago | SDF release 16 people out of 40 from eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor

Deir Ezzor province: The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights activists have reported that Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have released 16 people out of 40, who had been arrested two days ago in the towns of al-Shuhayl and al-Riz in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, on charges of “belonging to ISIS”.

On May 13, SOHR activists in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor reported a spike in the number of detainees arrested during the SDF security campaign in al-Shuhayl and al-Riz to about 40 people, where the arrested are accused of “belonging to ISIS”.

A few hours earlier, SOHR said that Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the International Coalition continued their security campaign in the town of al-Shuhayl for the third day in a row, as SDF-backed military force stormed houses in the town, in the early hours of Thursday morning, arresting seven people, including a family of five members. Meanwhile, another SDF-backed military force stormed the village of al-Riz in the same countryside, arresting 12 people, including a family of at least seven members.

It is worth noting that several people were arrested on charges of “belonging to ISIS”, and they were released later when they were found not related to ISIS.
