Detained previously for two years | Turkish-backed factions arrest civilian from Bulbul district again

Syrian Observatory sources have reported that militiamen of “Suqur al-Shamal” faction have arrested a civilian from Qastal Khadra village of Bulbul district in Afrin countryside for unknown reasons. It is worth noting that the civilian had been arrested when Turkish forces and their proxy factions captured Afrin canton in 2018, and held in their prisons for more than two years, before he was released. However, the Turkish-backed faction, Suqur al-Shamal, arrested the civilian once again two days ago.

On May 16, Observatory activists reported that a shepherd from Idlib had beaten an elderly Kurdish woman with a stick in the village of Satya in Maabatli district, in areas controlled by Turkish forces and their proxy factions in the north-west of Aleppo. According to SOHR sources, the shepherd brought his sheep to the olive field owned by the old woman, who asked him to get them out of her land, while the shepherd replied “this land belongs to Erdogan not the Kurds, and we are free to act as we want,” after insulting her. After the incident, several residents headed to file a complaint against the shepherd at the military police office which took no action. Meanwhile, the shepherd continued grazing his sheep in the farmers’ fields.
