Riyad Dirar to SOHR | “Authorities to review decision of raising fuel prices in Autonomous Administration-held areas

Riad Dirar, the co-chair of Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) revealed in a statement to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, today, Tuesday, May 18, that the decision of raising fuel prices will be reviewed and retracted after the popular anger and discontent it caused.

Moreover, Mr. Dirar stated that a meeting will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, to study the recent developments.

It is worth noting that SOHR has monitored demonstrations and protests in the Autonomous Administration-held areas, where demonstrators expressed their complete rejection of the sudden rise of the fuel prices, especially in these difficult circumstances in Syria, and the Autonomous Administration’s areas in particular.

Mr. Dirar expressed his hope that the results will be satisfactory to the people, and far from the harm that might affect the poor.

“This decision must be studied in a good way before it is issued,” said Mr. Dirar.
