Al-Hasakah | Residents demonstrate before Coalition Forces, protesting death and injury of demonstrators by Asayish Forces

Al-Hasakah province: SOHR activists in the southern countryside of Al-Hasakah have reported that the residents of the villages of al-Gharb, al-Layla and the 47th area in al-Shaddadi countryside have staged a protest on “al-Kherafi” road, as International Coalition Forces were arriving in the region. This demonstrators protested the killing of two demonstrators at least and injuring others during yesterday’s demonstrations when Asayish Forces opened fire on the demonstrators. It is worth noting that the protestors refused to meet with International Coalition Forces.

 

A few hours ago, SOHR sources reported that the joint presidency of the executive council issued a statement, revoking the decision No. 119 regarding the increase in fuel prices. The decision was made based on demands from the people, as the Autonomous Administration described in its statement which included the following:

 

“1- Resolution No. 119 passed on May 17, 2021, to increase fuel prices in areas under the control of Autonomous Administration to be revoked.

 

2- The previous prices, prior to resolution No. 119, to be adopted until a new resolution is passed or a modification is made.”

 

SOHR activists also monitored an ongoing strike, this morning, in al-Malikiyyah (Dayrik), Ma’badah and al-Qamishli, in condemnation of the Autonomous Administration’s decision to increase the fuel prices. Also, residents staged a sit-in protest in al-Qamisly city against the decision.

 

Yesterday, hundreds of residents staged demonstrations in the towns and cities of al-Qamishli, Amudah, Kirke Lake, Kobani, al-Nashwah, Mufti, Al-Salihiya and al-Marsho roundabout, denouncing the Autonomous Administration’s decision of raising fuel prices. The demonstrators demanded the “Autonomous Administration” revoke the decision.
