Aleppo | Clashes renew between Kurdish forces and Turkish-backed factions in northern countryside

Aleppo province: SOHR activists have reported renewed clashes this evening, with medium and heavy weapons, between Kurdish forces and Turkish-backed factions on the frontline of Kaljabrin in Aleppo countryside. The clashes coincided with exchange of artillery fire between the two sides.

Meanwhile, Turkish forces shelled the outskirts of Baynah al-Gharbiyah village in the northern countryside of Aleppo with heavy artillery. However, no casualties have been reported.

On May 19, Observatory sources reported that four regime soldiers were injured after Turkish forces stationed nearby the National Hospital in Azaz city targeted, with heavy weapons, a military post of regime forces near the mosque of the village of Maranaz, north of Aleppo. Moreover, Turkish forces bombarded the surrounding areas of the northern city of Tel Rifaat and the village of Ain Daqna, but no further casualties were reported.

SOHR activists had reported that Kurdish forces sneaked to a military position of the Turkish-backed al-Sham Corps in Basofan area in the northern countryside of Aleppo, where they managed to kill five members of al-Sham Corps. After the attack, clashes erupted between the two sides, while Turkish forces shelled the Kurdish-held villages of Mar’naz, Shawarghah, al-Malikiyyah, Sawaghankah, Kaloutah, Baynah and Maysah in north and north-western Aleppo.
