Rising tensions | Turkish-backed military police arrest civilians, clash with armed men in Aleppo

Aleppo province: SOHR activists, in eastern Aleppo countryside, have reported rising tensions in al-Bab city and countryside that are stationed under control of the Turkish forces and the factions of the operation room of “Euphrates Shield”.

Meanwhile, clashes have erupted between the military police and militiamen on Ihtimaylat neighborhood wounding more then seven civilians. Following the clashes, the military police has stormed the area and arrested at least four civilians. Moreover, in al-Bab city, the military police have launched an arrest campaign on the youth residential compound and “Olive Branch” area and arrested several civilians.

On May 14, Syrian Observatory activists documented the death of a man after being shot by unknown gunmen who stormed his farm in Qabaseen town in al-Bab countryside. The attackers escaped after they stole the victim’s car.

On May 13, SOHR activists in the eastern countryside of Aleppo reported an IED explosion in a car near a mosque in the city of al-Bab, which caused material damage only. Also, an explosion of a motorcycle-bomb took place in the same day on the road between the scientific research centre and Azaz in areas controlled by Turkish-backed factions in northern Aleppo, which resulted in the injury of two people and caused material damage.
