Proliferation of weapons | Grenade explodes in al-Suwaidaa, killing man and his son, while landmine explosion injures municipality official in rural Hama

SOHR activists have documented the death of a civilian and his son in their house in Shahbaa city in al-Suwaidaa province, after the explosion of a grenade. No further details have been reported.

On the other hand, an old landmine exploded in a mechanised digger in Bateesh area in the south of Halfaya city in Hama countryside, while paving an off-road for transporting agricultural crops in the region. The explosion has injured the mechanised digger’s driver who is an employee in the municipality.

On May 23, SOHR activists documented the injury of two children due to the explosion of an old landmine nearby Arshounah village in the eastern countryside of Hama, while they were picking capers.

Is worth noting that capers are sold for high prices and picking capers is a source of income for some families during this season.

SOHR activists had documented the death of a young man due to the explosion of an unexploded cluster bomb, while he was picking mahaleb cherry in farmlands surrounding al-Bara town in Jabal al-Zawiyah area in southern Idlib.
