For second day | HTS continues security campaign in Idlib, arresting more people

Reliable sources in areas under the control of Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham and opposition factions in Idlib province have reported that HTS has continued its security campaign in the province for the second consecutive day, as HTS members were seen on high alert in Harem, Salqin, Jisr al-Shughur, al-Dana and Idlib city, amid reports of arresting more people.

Yesterday, SOHR activists reported seeing members of Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham on high alert in order to arrest some of wanted persons for “supporting the Syrian regime”. In Dana city, HTS boosted its checkpoints at the entrance of the city and the agriculture road. Members of HTS checked civilians carefully, which led to long lines of cars rowed on its checkpoints.

The borders of each of Harem, Salqin, Darkoush cities, till Jisr Al-Shugur in Idlib north-west and western countryside also witnessed a security cautious to HTS security services, amid reports of a security campaign by HTS, which led to the arrest of tens of civilians.

Earlier this morning, SOHR sources reported seeing HTS security services being put on high alert in Salqin city in the north-western countryside of Idlib since the early hours of Saturday morning. Meanwhile, the security services imposed strict security measures on the vehicles and passers by. However, the reasons behind this development remained unknown whether this security alert and tight security measures were related to the arrest of a man who celebrated the “victory of al-Assad” or not.

A day earlier, SOHR activists in areas under the control of Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham and opposition factions in Idlib reported that HTS security services arrested a man from Salqin city near the Syria border with Iskenderun region in north-west Idlib, as he posted a video he made, supporting Bashar al-Assad and praising his achievements in the presidential election.
