Fourth patrol in May | Russian and Turkish forces tour Ain al-Arab countryside (Kobani)

SOHR activists have reported seeing Russian and Turkish forces running a new joint patrol in Ain al-Arab countryside (Kobani). The joint patrol of four Russian and four other Turkish armoured vehicles set off from Ashma village to the west of Ain al-Arab and toured the villages of Jariqly Fouqani, Qarran, Dakmdash, Kharkhoury, Boban, Saftak, Joul Bek Tel Sha’eer in western Kobani. The patrol returned again to the starting point running through the villages of Sousan, Qoula, Qaraqouy Tahtani, Bayander, Mashkou and Jabnah. The patrol was escorted by two Russian helicopters.

 

Accordingly, the number of Russian-Turkish joint patrols conducted in the region in May 2021 have risen to four.

 

On May 24, SOHR sources reported seeing Russian and Turkish forces running a new joint patrol in Ain al-Arab countryside (Kobani). The joint patrol of eight Russian and Turkish armoured vehicles set off from the border village of Gharib and toured the villages of Qarrah Mugh, Jayshan, Kharabisan Fouqani, Baghdik, and Bandar Khan village in the western countryside of Tel Abyad in the eastern countryside of al-Raqqah, before it returned to the starting point. It is worth noting that the patrol was escorted by two Russian helicopters.

 

Similarly, SOHR sources monitored, on May 17, Russian and Turkish forces conducting a new joint patrol in Ain al-Arab countryside (Kobani), east of Aleppo. The patrol roamed in several villages near the Syria-Turkey border.

 

While on May 10, Observatory activists reported seeing Russian and Turkish forces running a new joint patrol in the east of the city of Ain al-Arab (Kobani). The joint patrol of four Russian and four Turkish armoured vehicles set off from the border village of Gharib and toured border villages east of Ain al-Arab (Kobani), before it returned to the starting point. It is worth noting that the patrol was escorted by two Russian helicopters.
