Nearly 20 hours after kidnapping in al-Malikiyyah city (Dayrik) | Activist Hossam al-Qass released

SOHR activists have reported that the activist Hossam al-Qass was seen this afternoon, nearly 20 hours after he was kidnapped by masked gunmen in al-Malikiyyah city (Dayrik) in al-Hasakah province.

A few hours ago, SOHR sources reported that the fate of the activist Hossam al-Qass remained unknown, after he had been kidnapped yesterday by masked gunmen in al-Malikiyyah city (Dayrik) in al-Hasakah countryside before the passers-by. We, at the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, appeal to the Autonomous Administration and military forces in charge of the security of the region to disclose the fate of the activist and release him immediately if he is detained by any military formations operating in north-east Syria region, as it is unacceptable to arrest anybody just for expressing his opinion under any pretext.

On the other hand, the kidnapped activist’s family issued a statement, condemning the kidnap of Mr. Hossam and holding influential military and political authorities responsible, especially since they believe that Mr. the kidnapping of Mr. Hossam is related to his political stance regarding his defence of human rights and the freedom of public expression in areas under the control of Syria Democratic forces. The family also called upon the authorities to work on setting the activist free immediately, as he suffer health issues.
