Security campaign | SDF storm river crossing in eastern Deir Ezzor, attacking ferries used for smuggling goods and people to regime-held areas

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR activists in Deir Ezzor have reported that Syria Democratic Forces have stormed river crossings in al-Shuhail town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor where they opened fire on ferries used for smuggling goods and people from SDF-held areas to regime-controlled areas on the river’s opposite bank.

 

On May 12, SDF stormed a river crossing in Hawijat al-Busairah in eastern Deir Ezzor connecting SDF-held areas on the bank of Euphrates river and regime-held areas on the river’s opposite bank. During the security operation, a ferry and tanks filled with diesel, that was prepared to be smuggled to the regime-held areas, were confiscated by SDF.

 

While on May 7, reliable sources in Deir Ezzor informed SOHR that SDF stormed the river crossing on the bank of Euphrates river in al-Shuhayl in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, through which goods and oil were being smuggled to regime-controlled areas on the river’s opposite bank. The security forces blew up a ferry prepared to smuggle goods to the opposite bank after targeting it with RPG. Furthermore, SDF opened fire towards regime-controlled areas.
