After the recent military escalation in Jabal al-Zawiyah | Over 350 families flee from their areas

Idlib province: SOHR sources have reported mass exodus from Jabal al-Zawiyah in the southern countryside of Idlib, as civilians headed to safer areas after the recent military escalation in the region, which left casualties among civilians. According to SOHR sources, nearly 355 families of about 1,500 people have been fled from Jabal al-Zawiyah in the past week for fear of the escalating military operations on the region and the almost-daily rocket attacks by regime forces.

Yesterday, SOHR activists in the “de-escalation zone” documented the death of a pregnant woman and the injury of eight other civilians due to the Russian airstrikes on Jabal Al-Zawiya in the southern countryside of Idlib. It is worth noting that the woman was killed by the bombardment on Mantaf town, while the injured people were as follow:

  • Seven civilians by raids on Sarjeh town.

  • One civilian by Russian airstrikes on Mantaf town.

Russian warplanes had launched consecutive airstrikes on the eastern frontlines of Jabal al-Zawiya where the raids targeted al-Rouwaiha and the surrounding areas of Sarjeh and Mantef towns.

These airstrikes conceded with shelling by HTS, with artillery, on a gathering of Russian-backed militias in Maasaran town south east of Idlib, which left several people injured.

SOHR sources also reported that a civilian was killed and three others sustained various injuries in Jabal al-Arba’in area in an attack by regime forces with artillery and rocket fire on a civil car in Kafr Lata in the morning. The attack also caused substantial material damage.

SOHR activists had documented a spike in the number of fatalities in Iblin town in southern Idlib to 13, and they were as follows:

  • Four civilians, one man, one woman and two kids.

  • Official spokesman of the military wing of HTS.

  • Media coordinating official in HTS.

  • Seven members of HTS and Suqour al-Sham.

They were all killed in two attacks by regime forces with guided missile, as regime forces targeted a civil car in front of a house in Ablin town, while the second attack occurred when other fighters rushed to the site of the first attack to rescue wounded people.
