Al-Qamishli | Turkish Jandarma target farmlands in eastern countryside with incendiary bullets, breaking out fires

Al-Hasakah province: SOHR activists have reported outbreak of fires in large spaces of farmlands planted with wheat in the eastern countryside of al-Qamishli on the Syria-Turkey border, after the Turkish border guard forces “Jandarma” targeted them with incendiary bullets. Meanwhile, Turkish Jandarma’s indiscriminate gunfire have prevented fire brigades from reaching the farmlands and extinguish the fires.

This is the second attack of its kind in a week, as the Turkish Jandarma had opened fire on farmlands in eastern al-Qamishli, breaking out fire in large spaces there.

On June 6, reliable sources reported that a group of civilians attempted to smuggle themselves to the Turkish territory, in the early morning, from the western part of al-Darbasiyah city in north-east Syria region on the Syria-Turkey border. According to SOHR sources, border guards of Syria Democratic Forces fired warning shots to stop these civilians, which evolved to exchange of fire between SDF border guards and the Turkish border guard forces “Jandarma”. The exchange of fire resulted in the injury of three civilians among the group which was attempting to sneak to Turkey and they were taken to al-Darbasiyah field clinic in al-Darbasiyah, while some of the civilians managed to reach the Turkish territory.
