Regime repression | Despite Russian guarantee, security services detain media activist and his wife from Eastern Ghouta

Rif Dimashq province: SOHR has monitored that regime security services arrested a media activist and his wife on Saturday, after storming their home at Deir al-Asafeer town in the south of Eastern Ghouta.

According to SOHR, the arrested activist had worked as a correspondent for opposition T.V channels during the opposition factions’ control of eastern Ghouta, in addition to his work in some European and American-backed organizations that cared about civil affairs.

The media activist chose to stay in eastern Ghouta under regime officers and Russians’ guarantee, after regime forces controlled eastern Ghouta in March 2018. However, the activist was investigated several times before he was arrested and taken to the security state branch where he was forced to appear in some videos displayed on regime and Russian media, while denying the allegations about the chemical weapons massacre committed by regime in eastern Ghouta in August, 2013.
