Missing for a few days | Field commander and two members of a Russian-backed formation found dead in east al-Raqqah desert

SOHR sources have reported that the bodies of a commander and two members of the Russian-backed 5th Corps were found in Safyan desert in eastern al-Raqqah. It is believed that the commander and his two escorts were executed by ISIS cells which are prevalent in throughout the Syrian desert. It is worth noting that the communication was lost with the corps’ commander and member a few days ago, as they were combing the region, searching for ISIS cells. It is also worth noting that the commander was from Salamiyya city in the eastern countryside of Hama.

On June 14, SOHR activists documented the death of one regime soldier and the injury of other four due to the explosion of an old landmine, planted earlier by ISIS, in an army bus carrying the soldiers in Bear al-Aaawar district in Salamiya desert in the eastern countryside of Hama.

Since 24th of March 2019, SOHR  documented the killing of at least 1,473 regime soldiers and loyalists of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, including at least two Russians, and 152 Iranian-backed militiamen of non-Syrian nationalities. All were killed in attacks, bombings and ambushes by the “Islamic State”, west of Euphrates in the deserts of Deir Ezzor, al-Raqqah, Homs, al-Suwaidaa, Hama and Aleppo.

Also, four civilians working in gas fields, tens of shepherds and other civilians were killed and documented by SOHR in the same period, from late March 2019 until today. They were killed in attacks by ISIS cells. While 968 ISIS members were also killed in attacks and bombardment in the same period.
