SOHR appeals to security services of Autonomous Administration to release media activist accused of “cooperating with media websites criticizing Autonomous Administration”

Raqqa province: SOHR sources have reported that security services of Syria Democratic Forces arrested Ahmed al-Hassan, a media activist from Raqqa city, after storming his home a few days ago.

 

According to SOHR sources, al-Hassan is accused of “cooperating with some media websites which attack and criticize the Autonomous Administration and SDF”. SOHR sources have also confirmed that the activist was communicating with some media channels to provide them with press materials while working among SDF, which violates the drafted law.

 

We, at the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, appeal to the Autonomous Administration and military security services to disclose the fate of the activist and release him immediately, respecting for press freedom.

On June 4, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, appealed to the Autonomous Administration and military forces in charge of the security of the region to disclose the fate of the media activist Ali Saleh al-Wakaa who had been forgotten in the prison of Hajeen Military Council in areas under the control of Autonomous administration since last February, after his attempt to approach and talk to a delegation of the International Coalition during its visit to the general hospital in Hajeen city in the countryside of Deir Ezzor.

 

Earlier this month ,SOHR reported that the activist Hossam al-Qass had been kidnapped by unknown people and they released him 20 hours later in al-Malikiyyah city (Dayrik) in al-Hasakah.

 

On the other hand, the kidnapped activist’s family issued a statement, condemning the kidnap of Mr. Hossam and holding influential military and political authorities responsible, especially since they believe that Mr. the kidnapping of Mr. Hossam is related to his political stance regarding his defence of human rights and the freedom of public expression in areas under the control of Syria Democratic forces. The family also called upon the authorities to work on setting the activist free immediately, as he suffer health issues.
