Targeting ISIS hotbeds | Russian warplanes bombarded 20 strikes in Syrian desert

Russian warplanes bombarded since the early hours of Thursday have bombarded 20 strikes on positions of ISIS starting from Jabal al-Boushra until reaching northeastern al-Sokhna and Jabal al-Amour in the Syrian desert. The strikes coincided with combing the same areas by Russian-backed 5th Division in search for ISIS fighters.

Yesterday, SOHR activists documented the death of two regime soldiers and the injury of seven others in a new ambush by ISIS in Wadi al-Abyad “the White Valley” in Palmyra desert in Homs governorate.

This attack coincides with the ongoing combing operations by Russian and regime forces and their proxy militias in the Syrian desert, searching for ISIS members in the region.

Meanwhile, SOHR sources reported that Russian fighter jets have executed over 40 airstrikes on various positions in Syrian desert which mostly targeted the eastern countryside of Homs.

On June22, nearly seven members of the regime forces were wounded in a land mine explosion believed to be ordinance of ISIS during their combing operation on areas of Wady Abyad in the town of Palmyra in eastern Homs countryside.
