Protesting arbitrary security campaign | Demonstrators cut off main road in al-Busayra city

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR activists have reported a demonstration in al-Busayra city, as the demonstrators protested the arbitrary arrests by SDF and violations they committed during their last security campaign which started in the city two days ago.

The demonstrators cut off the main road connecting Koniko gas field and al-Omar oil field, while SDF members fired bullets in the air to disperse the demonstrators.

SOHR activists have reported that Syria Democratic Forces have found, while storming a house in al-Busayra city, quantities of fertilizers and weapons that have been put in barrels buried under ground in the house’s garden. SDF members have arrested a man and two women who were renting the house from a man living outside the province of Deir Ezzor and set the house ablaze.

On June 22, SOHR activists reported that SDF continued imposing curfew on al- Busaira town in east Deir Ezzor countryside, along with the ongoing security campaign.

Local sources told SOHR that the security campaign included indiscriminate and retaliatory arrests of tens of young and adult men, including a youth who mounted the pulpit of a mosques in Al-Busaira city on December 12, after Friday prayer finished, blaming SDF for the unstable security and lawlessness in the region, especially after high frequency of demanding residents to pay large amounts of money to a gang that had operated under the name of ISIS.

Local Sources added that SDF members hit residents with sticks while they were trying to break the curfew and went out of their homes for shopping.
