Rif Dimashq | Regime security services release new batch of detainees

Rif Dimashq province: SOHR activists have reported that regime security services have released 34 detainees, mostly from Rif Dimashq, who have not involved in murders, as security services describe.

The detainees released today are from al-Dumayr, Adra al-Balad, Deir al-Asafeer and Qalamoun in Rif Dimashq. This is the fourth batch of detainees to be released by regime forces after they promised the residents of releasing more batches. It is worth noting that spiritual figures of reconciliation deals, most prominent of whom is Sheikh Dafda’, have attended the release of the detainees.

On June 19, Observatory sources reported that hundreds of civilians gathered in the main courtyard of Kafr Batna town in Rif Dimashq, waiting to welcome their sons whom the security services promised to release.

Unfortunately, SOHR activists reported that tens of women cried and  lost consciousness due to their disappointed when their sons, who were detained for more than eight years in regime prisons, were not released under this deal, despite Sheikh Dofdaa’s promises to release them. The families were shocked when they found that majority of the prisoners released today had been arrested for criminal cases, where regime security services released 32 detainees from Kafr Batna district in Eastern Ghouta.

The released prisoners were received with a welcome reception attended by Sheikh Bassam Dofdaa, the prominent spiritual figure of reconciliation deals, some pro-regime Sheikhs, some officers and some members of al-Baath party.
