Military escalation in Aleppo | Turkish forces, their proxies and Kurdish forces exchange violent bombardment along frontlines of al-Bab and Manbij

Aleppo province: SOHR activists have reported intensive and violent rocket fire by Turkish forces and their proxy factions in the early hours of Saturday morning, which targeted positions along the frontlines with Kurdish forces in Manbij and al-Bab countryside in eastern Aleppo. Meanwhile, Kurdish forces reacted by similar bombardment, which caused material damage, but no casualties have been reported.

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported sporadic artillery shelling by Turkish forces, last night and this morning, which targeted frontlines in al-Buhaij village and the surrounding areas of the villages of al-Arimah and Qarrat Wayran in Manbij in the eastern countryside of Aleppo. However, no casualties were reported.

On the other hand, several rockets, fired by forces operating under the banner of SDF, hit the perimeter of the Turkish base in Shuwayha area in the northern countryside of Aleppo.

Moreover, clashes erupted between Kurdish forces and Turkish-backed factions on the frontline of Ghuwayran village in the east of Qabaseen, along with bombardment by Turkish forces on Kurdish positions.

On June 24, SOHR activists in Aleppo countryside reported heavy bombardments by the Turkish forces and their proxies in areas controlled by the Kurdish forces and Manbij Military Council Forces along the frontline in Manbij city, north-eastern Aleppo.

This bombardment coincided with exchange of fire with heavy and medium weapons between both sides, which left four pro-Turkish militiamen dead on Toukhar frontline in Manbij countryside.

This military escalation comes in light of news reported about Turkish intentions to launch a new military operation with their allied National Army factions in Syrian territory. Meanwhile, SOHR activists reported that leaders and members of the National Army discussed a looming military operation with Turkish forces mainly targeting Manbij.

According to SOHR sources, preparations and collecting information continued, as the operation might take place after the coming Eid al-Adha (Feast of the Sacrifice) by end of July. The sources added that the operation was expecting to cover Ain Issa, Ain al-Arab (Kobani), but Mabij would be the main target.
