New prices of petrol | Regime government competes with black market and Lebanese Hezbollah

Syrian Observatory activists have reported that the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection issued a decree setting a new price of petrol (octane 95) at 3000 SYL per litre.

The decision followed a statement issued by the Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources and the approval of the Economic Committee.

According to the decision, the new price is applied from tomorrow, July 7. It is worth noting that the earlier official prices approved by regime government had been as follow:

  • Diesel: 185 SYL per litre

  • Petrol: 750 SYL per litre

This development coincides with the acute fuel shortage in petrol stations in the Syrian regime-held areas at a time when fuel is available in black markets but at multiple prices.

According to SOHR sources, Lebanese Hezbollah is smuggling fuel from Lebanon into Syria and sell it at the following prices:

  • Diesel: 2000 SYL per litre

  • Petrol (octane 95): 2500 SYL per litre

These prices were monitored in the past month, while prices in July have been got higher.
