Afrin violations | Turkish-backed factions set fruit-bearing trees and forest areas on fire

Aleppo province: SOHR activists have reported that some members of the Turkish-backed faction of Liwaa al-Waqqas set fire, on July 6, to the bushes and olive trees in Karkur mountains between Tatara and Bazia villages in Jendires district, in order to timber and sell logs, which led to the burning of more than 200 dunam of fruit-bearing and forestry trees.

 

It is worth mentioning that Liwaa al-Waqqas controls Bazia and Tatara villages which are affiliated to Jendires district in Afrin countryside, north-west of Aleppo.

 

On July5, SOHR activists in Afrin which is under control of the Turkish forces and “National Army” factions, reported that Sultan Soliman Shah faction released a 50-year old man for a ransom worth 3,000 US dollars.

 

On June 27, the man was arrested on charges of communicating with Autonomous Administration. Also, Sultan Soliman Shah faction has threatened to seize the properties of the inhabitants in al-Ma’batly neighborhood who were deported from Ashgar al-Zitoun area if their proxies wouldn’t pay foru doallrs for each olive tree. In case of refusal, the faction will cancel the contracts issued by the local municipal and seize the trees completely.
