Afrin | Turkish forces and their proxies retrieve nearly 60 bodies from mass grave in the city

Aleppo province: Reliable sources have told the Syrian Observatory that the Turkish forces and their proxy factions continue retrieving bodies of civilians and military personnel from a mass grave discovered near the Local Council in Afrin city. Over 57 bodies have been retrieved so far, while the retrieved bodies have been taken to unknown place.

According to SOHR sources, the bodies in this mass grave are of identified civilians and military personnel with tombstones on their tombs, as most of them were killed during the siege imposed on Afrin in early 2018.

Yesterday, SOHR activists reported that Turkey forces and its proxies destroyed mass graves in Afrin town near to the local municipal council building, where the military forces used bulldozers and heavy machinery to destroy the graves which contain the remains of over 40 military and civilian corpses who were killed during Afrin’s siege at the beginning of 2018.

According to SOHR reliable sources, the population of Afrin buried the corpse of al-Mahmudiyah victims who were killed in Turkish air attacks in March 2018.

On the other hand, Turkish-backed factions blocked the roads leading to the graves. According to local sources, the Turkish forces violated the sanctities of the dead, where they pulled out bones and coffins of the dead during the digging operations.

It is worth noting that the Turkish forces destroyed graves in Matina, Qazikli and Avesta along Kafr Shel road and turned them beside archeological Senara tomb into sheep selling market.
