Compulsory conscription | Regime patrols arrest several young men awaiting in queue for buying ice blocks in al-Mayadeen

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR sources have reported that joint patrols of the regime’s military police and military security service have encircled a line of residents awaiting in front of an ice plant in al-Mayadeen city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, where they arrested several young men, driving them to mandatory service.

On June 16, Observatory sources reported that the military security services of Syrian regime arrested dozens of young males in a security campaign with the aim to drive them to mandatory service in al-Mayadeen, al-Asharar and Sbaikhan in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

This development came in light of rejection by residents of these areas of joining regime army, as youth evaded the regime checkpoints to avoid being arrested, while Iranian militias were working on attracting youth, mainly for the military service in Deir Ezzor, using their influence and financial incentives they offered to those youth.
