Ceasefire violations | Regime forces strengthen their presence in Daraa and clash with local gunmen in Jasem city.

Daraa province: SOHR activists have reported that clashes erupted between local gunmen and regime forces near al-Mashaheer stadium which is located on Namer–Jasem road.

 

Meanwhile, military reinforcements of regime forces have arrived in the surrounding areas of Jasem city after the withdrawal of regime soldiers and militiamen from most of the checkpoints in central Daraa countryside.

 

This development coincided with reaching a temporary de-escalation agreement between the central committee in Hawaran and representatives of regime forces under Russian supervision, as a part of preparations for announcing a comprehensive conditional agreement in the next few hours.

 

SOHR activists had reported today afternoon drop of bombardments by the 4th Division in Daraa amid tense calm that controlled the province. Moreover, regime forces and security service withdrew more checkpoints in Daraa countryside, and air intelligence also withdrew from their bases in Qerfa town in north Daraa, and also pulled their checkpoint in Da’al in middle Daraa countryside.

 

The attacks and withdrawal came amid cautious waiting for applying a Russian-mediated deal to deploy the 5th Division forces on other several checkpoints and posts in Daraa al-Balad.

 

Concerning the deal, SOHR activists learnt that a leader of a group who was listed among the wanted for deportation to north Syria whose name is Hafwo who extremely rejected his deportation amid information of his flee into the desert. Another leader of another group whose name is Abou Ta’agha also refused the deportation.

 

Earlier today, SOHR activists reported cautious clam across Daraa in southern Syria after reaching a deal between the Russian forces and the central committee in Hawran for deporting 132 of the security wanted people to north Syria amid rejection of several names to leave Daraa for other areas, while reports added the a final deal will be reached at 12 am.

 

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported that regime forces and the 4th Division have interrupted the tense calm in Daraa province once again, as several rockets hit Daraa al-Balad and Tariq al-Sadd neighbourhoods, along with medium machinegun fire on Daraa al-Balad. However, no casualties have been reported.

 

Meanwhile, negotiations are still underway in order to reach a settlement and put an end to the state of tension and military escalation in the region, amid reports of reaching an agreement stipulating for the evacuation of 130 persons to north Syria region, while no further details on the agreement’s other terms have been reported so far.

 

On the other hand, local gunmen delivered regime soldiers captured in the eastern countryside of Daraa to the 52nd Brigade in al-Harak, after mediation by the Russian-backed 8th Brigade, but the local gunmen kept holding several regime soldiers in west Daraa countryside.

 

SOHR sources have confirmed that the Russians are blaming the local gunmen for the current situation in Daraa.

 

SOHR activists documented the death of more civilians, soldiers and fighters who were killed during the recent dramatic developments throughout Daraa since Thursday, July 29, which brings the total death to 32 people. The breakdown of fatalities was as follows:

 

-12 civilians were killed in attacks by regime forces with machineguns, shells and rockets, and they were as follows:

 

  • Three civilians, including a child, in Daraa al-Balad

 

  • A man in Jasim

 

  • A child on the road between Namer and Kherbet Ghazala

 

  • A woman and her little son, three other children and two men in al-Yadouda.

 

-11 local fighters were killed in shelling and clashes with regime forces, and they were as follows:

 

  • Five fighters in Daraa al-Balad

 

  • A fighter in Jasim

 

  • A fighter in al-Muzayrib

 

  • Four fighters in the surrounding areas of Tafas, including a commander whom regime forces asked to leave to north Syria.

 

-Nine regime soldiers and militiamen of the 4th Division were killed in clashes with the local fighters in Daraa city and west and east Daraa countryside.
