Old ordnance | Civilian injured in landmine explosion in Idlib countryside

SOHR activists have reported that an old landmine exploded this morning on the outskirts of Maarbeleit village in the southern countryside of Idlib, which caused the injury of a man while he was picking figs.

Landmines and old ordnance pose a great threat to civilians in this region during harvest seasons, as Idlib and Hama provinces are famous for the variety of agriculture crops as well as the variety of their fruit-bearing trees such as pistachio, fig, olive, almond, mahaleb cherry and wild capers plant.

Yesterday, SOHR activists documented the death of a female civilian in the explosion of an old landmine in Kafr Sajnah village in the southern countryside of Idlib province.
