Ongoing violation | Turkish-backed factions arrest residents from Afrin and seize their priorities and trees

Aleppo province: SOHR activists have reported that members of the military police’s checkpoint in Azaz city have arrested a young man from al-Ziyara village in Shirawa district in Afrin countryside on August 1st, while he was attempting to cross into Turkish territories through the countryside of Azaz city in north Aleppo countryside.

 

On the other hand, a joint patrol of Turkish intelligence service and military police has arrested a civilian and his son from Shorba village in Maabatly district and took them to Maabatly district for unknown charges.

 

SOHR sources have also reported that a group of sheepherders in Kafrdally village felled and sabotaged more than 40 olive trees yesterday, which were planted in the area between Kafrdally Tahtani village and Faqiran village.

 

This incident came two days after Turkish-backed al-Hamza Division had removed several checkpoints in Kafrdally Tahtani, Kafrdally Foqani, Maarrata, Mazen and Faqiran villages. 

 

Yesterday, SOHR activists reported that the civil police in Rajo district in Afrin countryside arrested the president of the agriculture chamber in the local council of Rajo. The civil police stormed the civilian’s house in Kowira village in Rajo district and took the man to the security centers on July 28 for unknown charges.

 

On the other hand, Turkish-backed al-Hamza Division had decreased the number of members stationed at its checkpoints in Kafrdally Tahtani, Kafrdally Foqani, Maarrata and Mazen villages, while other checkpoints were removed completely for unknown reasons.

 

A day earlier, SOHR activists reported that the military police arrested a civilian from Afrin and dragged him to its prisons in Afrin city, while reasons and motivations for the arrest remained unknown. Meanwhile, members of the civil police arrested civilians from Kila village in Bulbul neighborhood in Afrin, but reasons remained unknown.

 

In Ma’abtly neighborhood, a patrol affiliated to the political security arrested civilians of Shourbah village on July 27 because they moved during the time of monitoring during the Autonomous Administration control on the region. On the other hand, Sultan Muarad faction released a civilian of Simalka village in the neighborhood of Ma’abtly after ten days of arrest on charges of dealing with the Autonomous Administration, after the civilian has paid 2,000 Turkish Lira for his release.

 

On July 27, also al-Hamzah Division, released two civilians from Konaki from Ma’abtly neighborhood as each of them paid 2,000 Turkish Lira for their release after had been detained for 15 days.
