Besieged civilians | Worsening humanitarian situation in Daraa despite the Russian promises

Daraa province: SOHR activists have reported that the humanitarian situation has been worsening in Daraa al-Balad amid the ongoing siege on the civilians, where food and bread have been decreasing despite the promises of the province dignitaries have received to lift the siege of Daraa al-Balad’s neighborhood, al-Sad and al-Mokhayam road, in addition to halt of the military operations. However, these promises haven’t been fulfilled yet.

The negotiations have been suspended for nearly 72 hours, as the final meeting was held in Daraa’s stadium on August 6. Coinciding with the suspension of negotiations, clashes have erupted from time to time between the 4th Division and the local fighters in the neighborhood of Daraa al-Balad.

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported that violent clashes continued in Daraa al-Balad in Daraa city until that dawn between the 4th Division and local gunmen, as the 4th Division was attempting to advance into the town. Despite the intensive bombardment which accompanied the attack, the 4th Division failed to advance into Daraa al-Balad. Meanwhile, tense calm has been prevailing the region since dawn, while the two sides are being put on high alert. It is worth noting that no agreement or settlement has been reached so far, despite promises by the Russians.
