Hindering freedom of expression on social media | HTS arrests 3 after criticizing “Salvation Government” and factions

HTS has been hindering freedom of expression on the social media platforms for the population in its areas of influence and has been oppressing and put them in prisons. On the other hand, HTS’s security forces, in the morning, have arrested a young man from Abeen Samaan town in the west Aleppo countryside because of a Facebook post he had published to criticize the silence of factions toward rescuing Daraa, according to him.

The post read, “a time comes while your heart is full of words that if you release it, will get harmed and if you keep, it will harm you. I swear that the situation in Daraa is no longer tolerable. Daraa isn’t in Syria, and Jabal al-Zawiyah could be affiliated to Latakkia. I ask for friendship, but where are the protesters, where the people with dignity are and where are the tribes.”

On August 4, HTS arrested media activists for criticizing the role of “Salvation Government” role on social media as wrote,” our factions have a principle that means a truce. Damn that government and its failed ministries. Oh, ministers go and bring some sheep to feed.”

On the same day, HTS arrested a civilian who is from Bench city in Idlib countryside because of his Facebook post, where he has criticized HTS by writing, “you wouldn’t hear the voice of those who deprive the factions of its weapons, and they wouldn’t even shoot. A rented pistol of the seculars for securing their forces doesn’t make Jihad and security men who protect their regimes don’t create Jihad.”
