Protesting poor services in al-Suwaidaa | Civilians block roads, storm water establishment and hold governmental vehicles

Al-Suwaidaa province: SOHR sources have reported that many civilians gathering in Um Dabit village in al-Suwaidaa countryside where they blocked the main road, protesting the poor services and lack of electricity, natural gas and fuel as well as interruption of drinking water.

 

On the other hand, protestors seized two vehicles affiliated to the water company in al-Suwaidaa, while tens of the residents of al-Golan neighbourhood in al-Suwaidaa city have stormed the water establishment in the city and forces several offices of the establishment to close.

 

Local sources have confirmed that drinking water has been interrupted in several neighbourhoods for over a month, although the residents have filled several complaints.

 

According to the local sources, these demonstrations and attacks on the governmental establishments do not aim to sabotage these places, but they come as a part of pressure exerted on relevant officials to undertake their responsibilities. The local sources pointed out that the two vehicles seized by the residents have been parked on the main highway, as the residents have never intended to make profit of them.

 

These developments comes at a time when the residents of al-Suwaidaa city and countryside are struggling with the poor services, disastrous humanitarian situation, dire living conditions and astronomically inflated prices.
