Searching for ISIS members | Above 30 Russian air strikes on Syrian desert

Russian warplanes have carried out above 30 air strikes on the Syrian desert, in al-Shoula desert southern Deir Ezzor, and al-Rasafah desert in west of al-Raqqa. The attacks coincided with combing operations in search for ISIS and the explosion of al-Moa’z that was believed to be used by ISIS to hide their logistics.

On August 12, SOHR activists documented the death of two Iranian-backed Syrian militiamen due to a landmine explosion on Jabal al-Beshri in east al-Raqqah desert where ISIS cells are prevalent. The explosion coincided with the ongoing combing operations in search for ISIS members in that region.

Separately, ISIS members launched several attacks today on posts of the regime-backed National Defence Forces (NDF) in al-Masrab and al-Madhoul deserts in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor, leaving casualties among the NDF.
