Six days of stalled negotiations in Daraa | Regime forces continue bombarding residential neighborhoods

Daraa province: SOHR activists have reported that the negotiations in Daraa are still facing obstacles for the sixth day in a raw, since the beginning of the implementation of the Russian roadmap, where the Central Committees in Daraa meet with the Security Committee, under Russian supervision, but no consensus have been reached so far.

On the other hand, SOHR activists have documented regime attacks on the residential neighbourhoods in Daraa al-Balad with tanks, mortars and heavy machineguns, along with clashes erupted at night between local armed fighters and the regime forces in the outskirts of the besieged neighborhoods.

Similarly, regime forces have shelled, with artillery shells, the road between al -Yadoudah and Tafas near the area of Scientific Research Centre.

On Aug 18, SOHR activists reported that residents in villages and towns across Daraa province, including Jasim, Heit, Tafas and al-Mezeyrib, staged demonstrations, rejecting the terms of the Russian roadmap’s terms.

The demonstrators chanted anti-regime slogans, expressing their discontent over the siege imposed on Daraa al-Balad for over 50 days.

Daraa city is currently struggling with alarming humanitarian situation, amid shortage of bread, food supplies, drinking water, medicine and fuel. Meanwhile, al-Saraya crossing is still closed till today.
