Accused of “kidnapping two State Security members” | Gunmen of attack regime forces in al-Suwaidaa countryside with rockets

Al-Suwaidaa province: SOHR sources say that gunmen fired several rockets on patrols of regime forces in al-Taybah village, as the regime patrols were attempting to storm the village with the aim to arrest suspects.

According to sources, armed gangs which holed up in the village are accused of two members of the State Security service. Meanwhile, regime forces have encircled the village.

Yesterday, SOHR activists reported that an armed group attacked a regime checkpoint in Um Dabeeb town north-eastern al-Suwaidaa where clashes with machineguns erupted with the members of the checkpoint. The attackers managed to kidnap two members of the State Security Branch, while one of the attackers was injured.

Local sources reported that the gunmen were relatives of a ringleader of kidnappers in al-Suwaidaa, who was arrested and taken to a prison in Damascus a few days earlier, after being injured.

SOHR sources suggested that the kidnapping of the State Security members was an attempt by the kidnappers to swap them with their boss.
