Arrests and releases in Afrin |Turkish-backed factions detain more civilians and release others for ransom

Aleppo province: SOHR activists have reported that the military police in Afrin city has stormed, yesterday, several houses in al-Ashrafeya neighborhood and arrested four civilians including two women of Jindires district, but charges behind their arrest have remained unknown.

On Aug 23, al-Sham Corps-backed Osod al-Sham controlling of Maydan Akbis village detained four civilians including minors, where the adults were charged of going out on guard patrols during the former control of the “Autonomous Administration” on the village, while the minors were charged of filming video clips and sending them to their relatives, which is considered as a crime by the Turkish-backed factions.

On Aug 18, a military police patrol arrested four young men in Hakja village in Jindires district in Afrin, without knowing the charges against them. But, they were released after paying a ransom of 3000-5000 Turkish Liras.

The Turkish-backed factions detained civilians in Afrin and accused them of communicating with the former “Autonomous Administration”, aiming to collect ransoms.
