In 24 hours | 20 regime soldiers killed and injured in attacks by local gunmen on military checkpoints throughout Daraa

Daraa province: SOHR activists have reported that two regime soldiers were killed today in an attack by local gunmen on military checkpoints in Daraa.

This incident raises the death toll among regime troops in the past 24 hours to seven soldiers, while 12 other soldiers were injured.

The Syrian Observatory had documented the death of five regime soldiers yesterday in an attack by local gunmen on regime checkpoints in al-Sanmayn, Daraa al-Balad and the vicinity of Tafs.

SOHR also documented more civilian fatalities in Daraa, where a civilian was killed in Daraa al-Balad today in bombardment by the regime forces on the residential neighborhoods.

Yesterday, SOHR documented that the number of civilians who were killed in regime bombardments on Daraa province risen to three, as two men were killed in a bombardment on the neighborhoods of the besieged Daraa al-Balad, and a woman was killed by rocket attacks on Jillen town in western Daraa.

On the other hand, regime forces shelled Daraa al-Balad with high-explosive rockets. These rocket attacks coincided with the failure of negotiations to reach a settlement in Daraa, where the Central Committee and the dignitaries rejected Syrian regime conditions to stop the military escalation.

These conditions included handing over the weapons and the establishment of nine regime’s military checkpoints inside the besieged neighborhoods of Daraa al-Balad.

SOHR activists had reported escalation of unprecedented rocket and artillery fire on besieged Daraa al-Balad, that conduced with the ongoing violet lashes between the 4th Division and its factions on one side and the local gunmen on the other, in bids by the regime to storm Daraa al-Balad districts under intensive fire coverage without change in the controlling map in the region till the moment.

Earlier in the day, SOHR activists reported the bombardment of nearly 20 land-land rockets on residential neighborhood in besieged Daraa al-Balad in the early hours of Monday.

Meanwhile, regime forces with their proxy militias continued targeting Daraa al-Balad neighborhoods with heavy machineguns.

Sources in the committee entrusted to negotiate with the Syrian regime informed SOHR that Daraa negotiations collapsed as the Iranian wing in the Syrian regime, including the 4th Division and Iranian-backed militias, insisted on resorting to the military choice in Daraa al-Balad. Meanwhile, the Russians and Military Intelligence Service were attempting to reach an agreement with Daraa Committee to cease fire and lift the siege on Daraa al-Balad neighborhoods.

Earlier today, SOHR activists reported the death of one of the local gunmen in the ongoing clashes with the regime forces in Daraa al-Balad.
