In Syrian revolution cradle | Ceasefire continues for 2nd day while Russian-mediated new deal is implemented

Daraa province: Daraa has witnessed continuous alarming calm completely along with enforcement of ceasefire for the second consecutive day in light of the new Russian-mediated deal. Striking settlements with wanted in Daraa al-Balad continue amid anticipation of establishing military checkpoints of the Russian military police and the Russian-backed 8th Liwaa in the region.

Yesterday, SOHR activists reported that more individuals, including suspects and gunmen, settled their security situation with regime forces, bringing the number of reconciliation deals struck to 33, amid anticipation for gradual implementation of the remaining terms of the agreement.

Earlier today, SOHR activists have reported that striking settlement with more than 31 local gunmen is anticipated in Daraa al-Balad under Russian mediation in the coming hours as well as handing over personal weapons. Meanwhile, no information till the moment was reported about new deportation of the area.

The moves come after entry of the regime-controlled military police, the Russian forces and dignitaries of Daraa al-Balad on Wednesday morning, while Russian and Syrian flags have been hovering.

Earlier in the day, SOHR activists reported the beginning of entry of Russian military forces into Daraa al-Balad in accompany with members of regime-held security committee and representatives of dignitaries of Daraa in light of enforcing the deal items under Russian mediation.

SOHR activists reported alarming calm prevailing Daraa province in the first day of the new deal under the Russian mediation or what is known as the Russian roadmap amid state of anticipation for starting the implementation of the agreement items which are striking new settlement for the wanted and handing over the weapons, deportation of those objecting the deal and entry of the Russian military police to Draa al-Balad and raise the Syrian and the Russian flags, establish joint patrols of the military security and the 8th Liwaa that is affiliated to the 5th Corps that is backed by Russia. Meanwhile, cautious calm has coincided with hover of Russian scouting helicopters over Daraa al-Balad.
