Syrian desert | Nearly ten ISIS members killed in 100 Russian airstrikes in 48 hours

SOHR activists have documented the death of nine ISIS members in intensive airstrikes by Russian fighter jets in the past two days. SOHR activists have also documented the death of a regime soldier affected by the injury he had a few days ago in clashes in al-Tanaf desert in the eastern countryside of Homs. Moreover, a member of the regime’s Republican Guard Forces was killed in the explosion of a landmine planted earlier by ISIS near al-Fahdah oil field in the south-western al-Raqqah.

 

Yesterday, SOHR activists reported escalating aerial operations by Russian jets on positions where ISIS fighters were holed up in the Syrian desert, as the Russian jets executed 90 airstrikes on ISIS positions in the area from eastern Homs to al-Raqqah and Deir Ezzor desert, running through al-Raqqa-Aleppo-Hama triangle.

 

Since 24th of March 2019, SOHR has documented the killing of at least 1,528 regime soldiers and loyalists of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, including at least two Russians, and 153 Iranian-backed militiamen of non-Syrian nationalities. All were killed in attacks, bombings and ambushes by the “Islamic State”, west of Euphrates in the deserts of Deir Ezzor, al-Raqqah, Homs, al-Suwaidaa, Hama and Aleppo.

 

Also, four civilians working in gas fields, tens of shepherds and other civilians were killed and documented by SOHR in the same period, from late March 2019 until today. They were killed in attacks by ISIS cells. While 1,044 ISIS members were also killed in attacks and bombardment in the same period.
