Iranian-backed militias blamed for the murder | Shepherd found dead in al-Raqqah desert

SOHR sources have reported that a man was found dead with gunshot wounds in the head in Ma’dan desert in al-Raqqah province. According to SOHR sources, the victim was shepherding cattle in the area which is under the control of regime forces and their allies, which also ISIS members are prevalent in. Meanwhile, Iranian-backed militias have been blamed for this crime, especially since such murders and other violations against civilians were committed in the region by these militias.

On August 7, SOHR sources reported a new crime against shepherds and civilians in areas under the control of the Syrian regime and its proxy militias in the Syrian desert. According to SOHR sources, unknown gunmen stormed a house in al-Atshanah village in the west of al-Rasafah in al-Raqqah desert in the previous day, where they slaughtered two men and stole cattle, amid accusations against Iranian-backed militias which are largely prevalent in this region of being involved into this crime. It is worth noting that ISIS cells were also prevalent in the region.

In March, reliable sources informed SOHR that four shepherds from Tel Daman district were found dead in farmlands in Rajm al-Sawwan area in Khanaser desert in the southern countryside of Aleppo. According to SOHR sources, there were gunshot wounds at the heads of the four people.
