For ransom | Young man killed by a gang in horrific crime in Reef Dimashq
Amid escalating security chaos across Syria, a gang has killed young man, Mohamed Mowafiq al-Badawi, with nine shoots and dumped his body in water well in Gaabadeen neighborhood in Reef Dimashiq. It is worth noting that his uncle and another person have dragged the victim to Hawsh Arab in Reef Dimashq on pretext of buying car spare parts, and two perpetrators have agreed to kidnap the young man and detain him in the area until asking for 25 million Syrian Lire from his family.
But, when the uncle felt his plans were unveiled and the victim started to resist, they shoot him dead and threw the body in well in Gaabadeen neighborhood. The regime security forces arrested the victim’s uncle in Assal Ward neighborhood. It is worth noting that the boy was a lonely child.
Earlier in the day, SOHR activists reported that amid the worsening living conditions in the regime-held areas, in August and early September nearly eight crimes with different reasons and places. In the industrial area in al-Ramousah neighborhood in Aleppo province, a body of a young man in his 30s who was hit on head, was found, while investigations of the regime security services revealed that the perpetrator was the victim’s friend and he hit him several times with a rock in collaboration with a third one to rob the victim’s mobile and 700 US dollars.
Meanwhile, a pregnant woman in Reef Dimashq was killed by her neighbor over differences of planting a piece of land in al-Zaydani area. On other hand, a child was mistakenly shot dead by a hunting pistol by the victim cousin. By end of August, a young man killed his father in al-Zouwitiyah village in Safita countryside over difference of heritage.
Eastern al-Ghouta has witnessed horrible crime that killed a female civilian and her daughter in Hawsh Nasry area, as male murdered his neighbor and her daughter and buried them in the agricultural land. When arrested, the man confessed that he was intended to rap the mother and rob her money.
On September 2, a body of a female young girl in her twenties has been found. The body was dumped in a garbage bin in al-Kournish street in Sahnaya town in west Damascus after beheading her and cutting her hands.
On August 8, the police has arrested, in al-Qasas area in Damascus, a man who worked in sorcery works and stealing the women gold and money, after pretending that he was a religious blessed man who can solve problems of enchanted people. Many females were harmed utile he was entrapped by the police in one of those females’ house.
On July 8, Criminal Security service in Aleppo arrested a person involved in killing a girl in Bab al-Nairab neighborhood. After his arrest, he confessed his crime as he killed her in his house with a knife then he robed her jewelries and 200,000 Syrian Lira and two mobiles, then he threw the body in a water tank
On July 24, in Tartous city, a difference between 15-year-old and 16-year-old children along al-Kournich al-Bahari over minor issues were developed into stabbing crime that killed one of them immediately while the other fled the scene according to regime-run Syrian Watan newspaper.
Rates of crime have escalated in the past months, most of which were associated with poverty, worsening living conditions and spreading employment, as well as the hiking prices of basic commodities which increased rate of crimes amid absence of the authorities and the government weakness to find solutions to ease burdens on the people and help them to improve their living conditions that have become very difficult.
SOHR activists say that the areas under the control of the Syrian regime throughout Syria are struggling with poor transportation services in light of the ongoing fuel crisis. In addition, the residents in theses area are still suffering from the acute shortage of bread and water, as the long lines in front of bread bakeries and petrol stations and in taxi and bus stations top the events. The regime-held areas are experiencing almost-complete lack of means of public transportation, while regime government has been still unable to put an end to these crises which plagued the Syrians.
On the other hand, the markets in Damascus have experienced a new increase in the prices of chicken and chicken meat which have become 30% higher than the previous prices. The new prices of chicken, chicken meat and meals and other essential products have been set as follows:
• Chicken: 7,500 SYL per kilo
• Chicken meat: 10,500 SYL per kilo
• Chicken drumsticks: 11,000 SYL per kilo
• Chicken livers: 11,000 SYL per kilo
• Chicken thighs: 10,500 SYL per kilo
• Chicken wings: 7,000 SYL per kilo
• Roasted chicken: 23,000 SYL per kilo
• Grilled chicken: 24,000 SYL per kilo
• Boneless chicken: 26,000 SYL per kilo
• Broasted chicken: 28,000 SYL per kilo
• Shawrma: over 35,000 SYL per kilo (this price equals a half of a government employee’s salary)
• Gas cylinder: 105,000 SYL (and it is available only in black markets)
Moreover, the prices of canned food and legumes have increased by nearly 15% regarding last week’s prices.
It is worth noting that the selling rate of the Syrian lira against the dollar reached 3,465 SYP and the buying rate was 3,415 SYP, while 4,054 SYP for selling and 4,118 SYP for buying against the euro.
