Daraa new agreement | Prominent Opposition figure “al-Harfoush” threatens to overturn settlement deal and demands release of his wife and children

Daraa province: SOHR activists have reported that the regime forces have released the son of Mo’aiad al-Harfoush and his wife and nephew who were arrested by the regime forces few days ago, to pressure al-Harfoush to agree to strike settlement in Daraa al-Balad.

The Syrian Observatory obtained a copy of an audio tape by “al-Harfoush”, where he said that his wife and children are suffering from bad health conditions inside the regime’s prisons.

Al-Harfoush requested meeting in al-Hag Rasheed Mosque with the Daraa dignitaries, the Central Committees and negotiators tomorrow, and he threatened to ruin the agreement with the regime forces unless the regime forces release his family.

It is worth noting that the last agreement is implementing in a good atmosphere until now amid high turn out by civilians to settle their conditions for the second consecutive day.

On Sep 4, SOHR activists reported that Syrian regime forces arrested the wife and five children of one of the most important wanted suspect known as “al-Harfouh” in addition to his brother and his brother’s wife, in order to add pressure on him due to his rejection for deportation from Daraa.

SOHR activists reported that the regime’s security services arrested the wife and children of Mo’ad al-Harfoush who is known as “Abu Taaga”, in Daraa al-Mahata. However reasons behind his arrest remained unknown.
On Aug 4, Mohamed al-Mosalamh and Mo’ad Harfoush appeared in a video about their deportation of Daraa city to prevent blood shed. Their deportation was one of the regime most prominent demands to stop escalation in the province.

In the video tape, that SOHR received copy of, Mohamed said, “I’m Mohamed al-Mosalamh, known by al-Hafaw, from Tareeq al-Sad neighborhood in Daraa city, explains the developments that took place in Daraa al-Balad in July, 2021.”

“We have been surprised by the end of July with large deployment of the Syrian regime forces, topped by the 4th Division, at the frontline of al-Shiyah, Nakhlah and Daraa camp. I with a group of young men from the city, have took into the streets to defy the assault of those forces and to prevent them from deporting the populations who took place in the clashes,” he said in the video.

“We rejected the regime demands. The regime started striking the area and proceeded to advance, but we challenged them,” he said adding “the regime forces have come out with a proposal to deport me and Harfoush for withdrawal of the Syrian army, its retreat and stop the displacement of the people and the bloodshed of our people in Daraa al-Balad.”

“Accordingly, we accepted the conditions and left the area to preserve safety of the people and prevent war. But after our deportation, we were surprised that the security campaign has continued,” al-Hafaw added.

He reiterated that “we are still out of Daraa to stop harming our people, despite the regime only understand the language of force.”
