Indiscriminate gunfire | Displaced civilian from Deir Ezzor killed in al-Rukban camp

SOHR sources have in al-Rukban camp on the Syria-Iraq-Jordan border triangle reported that a civilian who had been displaced from Marrat town in Deir Ezzor countryside was killed, after being hit with indiscriminate gunshot of unknown origin.

In July, SOHR activists reported that a dispute raged between inhabitants of al-Rukban camp over a water truck which soon evolved to armed clashes, which resulted in the death of five civilians and injury of others, some seriously.

Most of the fighting people were of two families who had been displaced from Mheen town in Homs‎ to al-Rukban camp.

It is worth noting that al-Rukban camp, which is located near Iraq-Syria-Jordan border, is witnessing a tragic and appalling humanitarian situation. The camp is housing more than 11,000 displaced people and are suffering from severe crises under the crippling siege imposed by regime forces and the Russians. Despite continued appeals and highlighting the disastrous situation of civilians in the camp by SOHR, the suffering continues.

Syrian Observatory sources in the camp have reported that the situation is worsening, especially the medical conditions. The camp is experiencing a severe shortage of medicines and medical equipment and the absence of doctors and medical staff, as there are no any nearby medical centres or posts other than Al-Awn medical post, which was closed by the Jordanian authorities due to coronavirus.
