Russian aerial attacks | Nearly 75 airstrikes hit ISIS positions in Syrian desert, with deployment of Russian-backed militiamen

SOHR activists have reported that five Russian jets consecutively targeted al-Rasafa desert, south-west al-Raqqa with several airstrikes, raising number of Russian raids in the past 24 hours to 74. Most of the airstrikes hit al-Rasafa desert in al-Raqqah and Atheria desert in Hama countryside.

This development coincided with the deployment of Russian-backed militias in al-Shawla and Kabajeb deserts in Deir Ezzor in order to secure the roads against ISIS attacks.

On September 9, a Russian soldier was killed in a military vehicle explosion, at al-Badyah road in east Homs countryside.

Earlier that day, SOHR monitored the rising number of air strikes to 60 in the past 24 hours in the desert of al-Shoula, al-Rasafah, Athriya, al-Sokhna and posts in Jabal al-Bashri.

The intensive air strikes came after sudden attacks by ISIS on the regime forces and its proxies posts by attacking the moveable military vehicles among the posts and planting IEDs and land mines on the roads.
