Anti-smuggling campaigns in Deir Ezzor | NDF member dies of wounds in earlier clashes with SDF

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR activists have documented the death of a member of the regime-backed National Defence Forces (NDF) in al-Mayadeen city in Deir Ezzor countryside, succumbing to his wounds sustained in clashes with SDF on September 7, during a campaign by SDF near the city’s bridge to counter smuggling goods and people to regime-held areas.

Yesterday, SOHR activists reported that clashes with machineguns erupted between Syria Democratic Forces (SDF) stationed in Abu Hamam town and the regime forces stationed in al-Daweer village, after an SDF patrol raided crossings used for smuggling in the region.

The area experienced families’ exodus from the conflict zones in Abu Hamam town to other areas of the town.

On the other hand, an SDF patrol stormed the river crossings in al-Shaheel town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, and opened fire at regime forces stationed in Buqrus town. However, no casualties were reported.
