Rocket attack | “Al-Fath al-Mubin” targets headquarters of Republican Guard forces in eastern Idlib, killing top officer of 5th Corps

Syrian Observatory activists have documented the death of a regime Brigadier General, succumbing to his wounds sustained in rocket fire by the factions of “al-Fath al-Mubin” on the headquarters of the regime’s Republican Guard forces in Khan al-Sabel frontline in Saraqeb area in the eastern countryside of Idlib.

 

It is worth noting that killed Brigadier General was from Ba’rin village in Masyaf countryside in Hama province, and he served as a commander of the Russian-backed 5th Corps.

 

A few hours ago, SOHR sources reported that Russian fighter jets renewed their airstrikes on the “de-escalation zone”, bringing the number of airstrikes since morning to at least 23. These airstrikes were distributed as follows:

 

  • Ten airstrikes hit Balyoun and Mashoun areas in Jabal al-Zawiyah in the southern countryside of Idlib.

 

  • Four airstrikes hit positions in al-Bara which hosts a Turkish observation post in the same countryside.

 

  • Four airstrikes on al-Kendah village in the western countryside of Idlib.

 

  • Five airstrikes hit the frontlines of Kabana, Berzah and al-Khudur in Jabal al-Akrad in northern Latakia.

 

It is worth noting that the airstrikes of al-Kendah village left a man dead and caused material damage.

 

SOHR sources had reported nine airstrikes executed by Russian jets on positions on Latakia and Idlib countryside as a part of the escalation of Russian airstrikes of the “de-escalation zone”. The airstrikes were as follows:

 

  • Five airstrikes hit the frontlines of Kabana and al-Khudur in Jabal al-Akrad in northern Latakia.

 

  • Two airstrikes hit positions in al-Bara in Jabal al-Zawiyah in southern Idlib, which hosts a Turkish observation post.

 

  • Two airstrikes on al-Kendah village in the western countryside of Idlib.

 

It is worth noting that the airstrikes of al-Kendah village left a man dead. Meanwhile, Russian fighter jets were seen flying for hours over the “de-escalation zone” and areas under the control of Turkish forces and the National Army’s factions in Aleppo countryside last night.
