To collect ransoms | Factions of the Turkish-backed National Army in Afrin arrest 11 civilians, including women

Aleppo province: SOHR sources say that al-Hamza Division which controls Kafr Zait village in Jendires district has imposed a levy of 5,000 USD on a Kurdish elder in return for allowing him to stay in his village, after he returned to the village a few months ago. Meanwhile, “al-Jabha al-Shamiyyah” has imposed a levy of 5,000 USD on a young man from Qarrah Baba village in Raju district, before the faction arrested the young man, took him to Azaz city and asked his relatives to pay the levy in return for releasing him.

 

On the other hand, Suleiman Shah factions which controls Qarmatlaq village in Sheikh Hadid district imposed a levy on a civilian from the village, on September 15, in return for allowing his daughter to return to the village. The civilian was forced to sell his tractor in order to get money to pay the levy. However, the commander “Saif al-Din Jasim”, Abu Amshah’s brother, beat the civilian brutally before the village’s residents for the delayed payment of the levy.

 

In Shirawa district, however, al-Hamzat Division arrested a young woman from Kimar village this week, and asked her relatives to pay 1,000 USD in return for releasing her. Al-Hamzat Division also beat an elder from Qarzihal village in Shirawa district brutally, shortly after his return to the village from areas under the control of Kurdish forces in north Aleppo countryside, despite guarantees by the local council in Qarzihal village of not persecuting or attacking the man.

 

Moreover,  a patrol of Turkish Intelligence service arrested a civilian from Buraymajah village in Ma’batli district on September 14 for unknown reasons.

 

Similarly, a patrol of the political security service arrested a civilian woman from Buraymajah village on September 13, while she was visiting her husband in Raju prison, for “communicating with the former Autonomous Administration”.

 

Also, on September 12, the military police arrested a civilian from Kawnda village in Raju district and asked his family to pay a ransom of 2,000 TL.

 

While, on September 10, the Turkish Intelligence arrested a young man from his workplace in al-Sena’a area for unknown reasons.

 

Furthermore, al-Samarqand faction which controls Kafr Safrah village in Jendires district arrested a civilian from the village, on September 6, with the aim to collect a ransom. The man had been arrested previously by Ahrar al-Sharqiyah which forced him to pay a ransom of 5,000 USD in return for releasing him.

 

In September 3, al-Hamazat Division arrested a civilian from Qadda village in Raju district, took him to its headquarters in the district and asked his family to pay a ransom of 2,000 USD for releasing him.
