ISIS resurgence in Deir Ezzor | Unknown gunmen assassinate former SDF member in al-Busirah city

Deir Ezzor province: Unknown gunmen on a motorbike have targeted a former member of the SDF in al-Busirah city in east Deir Ezzor where he was shot dead with six bullets.

On Sept. 21, SOHR activists reported that a former member of “Deir Ezzor Military Council” died of severe wounds sustained a while ago, when unknown gunmen opened fire on him and his family at al-Sa’a roundabout in al-Busayra city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

This attack came as a part of ISIS escalating operations against civilians and SDF fighters.

As more fatalities are recorded and updated regularly, the number of people who were killed in areas within the four provinces of Aleppo, Deir Ezzor, Al-Raqqah and Al-Hasakah, in addition to the SDF-held area of Manbij in the north-east of Aleppo rose to 799 fighters, civilians, oil workers, and officials in service parties.

The Syrian Observatory documented the assassination of 288 civilians including 18 children and 15 women by armed cells in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, al-Hasakah countryside, al-Raqqah city and countryside, and Manbij area. In addition, 507 SDF fighters, including local leaders, were assassinated in the same areas.

Also, four members of International Coalition were killed. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights Human also documented tens of injuries due to these assassinations.
