Second round of airstrikes in hours | Russian jets attack “Olive Branch” areas in Aleppo countryside

Aleppo province: SOHR activists have reported that the Russian jets have renewed their airstrikes on “Olive Branch” areas in Aleppo countryside for the second time since morning, where a fighter jet targeted the frontlines of Basofan and Barrad villages in northern Aleppo with several missiles. However, no casualties have been reported yet.

On the other hand, SOHR activists have monitored sporadic clashes between Kurdish forces and Turkish-backed factions on the frontline of Harbal village in the northern countryside of Aleppo.

These clashes coincided with similar clashes between regime forces and Turkish forces on Tadef frontline in Aleppo countryside. However, no casualties have been reported yet.

Earlier today, Syrian Observatory activists reported that the number of airstrikes executed by Russian fighter jets on “Olive Branch” areas in Afrin countryside in the north-western countryside of Aleppo rose to five. The airstrikes hit positions of the Turkish-backed “al-Jabha al-Shamiyyah” in Basofan and Basalehiyah in Shirawa district in south-west Afrin. However, no casualties have been reported. Meanwhile, Russian fighter jets were seen flying over the northern countryside of Aleppo.

On the other hand, Russian fighter jets executed 12 airstrikes on positions in Idlib and Hama countryside in the “de-escalation zone”, and they were distributed as follows:

  • Four airstrikes on Ain Shaip area on the outskirts of Idlib city.

  • One airstrike on al-Ruwayha in Idlib countryside.

  • Two airstrikes on Duwayr al-Akrad and al-Sarmaniyah in Sahl al-Ghab in the north-western countryside of Hama.

  • Five airstrikes on positions of Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham on the outskirts of al-Fu’ah town in the eastern countryside of Idlib.

It is worth noting that the airstrikes on the “de-escalation zone” left no casualties.

On August 31, SOHR activists reported five airstrikes, believed to be carried out by Russian jets, which targeted a camp of al-Sham Corps, which is close to the Turkish Intelligence, in Iskan and al-Jalmah villages in Jendires district in south Afrin city.

It is worth noting that the attack was the first of its kind to be carried out on a camp affiliated to a Turkish-backed corps in the “Olive Branch” areas which is under the control of Turkish forces and their factions.

According to SOHR, the Russian strikes left five militiamen of al-Sham Corps injured.
