Urgent assistance to the Autonomous Administration for curbing the spread of COVID-19

Through the American Rescue Plan Act, the United States is providing $4 million to respond to urgent COVID-19 needs in northeast Syria. With these funds USAID will:

(1) Establish an oxygen bottling plant in Hasakah to supply medical-grade oxygen to hospitals and health clinics.

(2) Enhance Hasakah National Hospital’s COVID-19 response, including COVID-19 case management training for staff, improvements to isolation wards, and rehabilitation of water and sanitation facilities.

(3) Improve clinical diagnosis capabilities of COVID-19 and related complications, management of COVID-19 symptoms, and implementation of standard infection prevention and control measures through health worker training.

(4) Improve vaccine storage facilities in Hasakah governorate.
