Iranian military in Syria | IRGC trains local recruits in al-Mayadeen to control drones

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR sources have confirmed that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) started training courses for IRGC-backed local militiamen on the use of drones in al-Mayadeen city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. According to SOHR sources, 25 local recruits, divided into five groups, have joined the training course which is held under the supervision of Iranian officers in al-Mazare’ area, as each group has one drone to be trained on.

 

On September 27, SOHR sources reported ongoing recruitment operations in east Aleppo countryside by Iranian-backed factions led by the Afghani Liwaa Fatimyoun by offering financial incentives.

 

According to SOHR sources, the number of the new recruits jumped to 1,540 since the escalation of the recruitment operation in February 2021. The recruitment operations which were carried out through pro-Iran spiritual figures were concentrated in the areas of Maskanah, al-Safirah, Deir Hafer and other towns and villages in eastern Aleppo.
