SOHR renew its appeals to release members of the Information Bureau of al-Raqqah Local Council immediately

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has renewed its appeals to relevant institutions in the Autonomous Administration in northern and north-eastern Syria to release the three activists who were arrested on Saturday in al-Raqqah city immediately. The three detained people are the chief of the Information Bureau of al-Raqqah Local Council and two members of the bureau, and they have been detained for “dealing with media outlets affiliated with the Syrian regime and communication with Turkish-backed factions”. These bodies are banned by the Autonomous Administration. However, these accusations cannot be an excuse for arresting the three people arbitrarily and keeping them in prison until this moment, especially since they have committed no guilt or crimes.

Yesterday, SOHR activists reported that the intelligence service in Autonomous Administration-held areas continued keeping the head of the media office in the Local Council of al-Raqqa city, with two of the media office members, over charges of dealing with banned media outlets in Autonomous Administration-held areas, where restrictions were imposed on journalists and media in its areas.

On the same aspect, SOHR demanded the concerned authorities to release activists in respect of the freedom of expression in Autonomous Administration-held areas, while the activists seek for an income source in dignity, under the current bad economic situation in the country.

SOHR activists had reported that members of a patrol of SDF intelligence service arrested, on the previous day, the chief of the information bureau of al-Raqqah Local Council and two members of the bureau for “dealing with regime media outlets and communication with the factions of the Turkish-backed National Army”.
